It’s been a little more than five years and a dozen different hairstyles since Ashlee Simpson released her last album, ‘Bittersweet World’. April 22, 2008 to be exact. Today is May 24, 2013 and Ashlee has been quietly working on the follow up to ‘Bittersweet World’ for about three years now and yet all we’ve gotten from Ashlee and her team are little bits of information about the record (mostly ‘soon’ or ‘I’m working on it’) and one new song, ‘Bat For A Heart’. Many fans are very puzzled, confused, frustrated, and upset that their favorite artist, idol, and hero has not released new material yet (me obviously being one of them). Let’s go on a little, well, long timeline of events that bring us up to speed…

-March 2, 2010: After her fabulous and flawfree run on Broadway in the production, Chicago, our very own Roxie Hart revealed that she is getting the music itch and would begin writing for a new record shortly. This comes to no surprise due to the fact that during her run in Chicago she stated in an interview with People magazine that she would like to make another album.

-July 25, 201o: Finally, Ashlee speaks about her album. Not much, but enough to get her fans riled up and officially excited for new music that would soon be on the horizon.

“Yes, I’m in the studio now,” She told OnTheRedCarpet.com. “I’m doing it quietly, taking my time, enjoying it. Because, really I’m at a great place in my life and my first priority is Bronx. It will be just what I want it to be, at the right time, when I’m ready for it.”

-August 2010: Ashlee hinted at working with John Shanks for her record.

-September 2010: During New York Fashion Week, Ashlee spoke out, not only once, but twice about her new record. She said the sound would be a bit folky and that she was in town that week to write new music. Great! Read more »
