Pete Wentz Wants Another Baby – ‘at Some Point’

Posted by Keiren 8 Comments

He’s only been a father for 14 months, but it’s a job rocker Pete Wentz says he’d love to try again.

“We are very lucky and hope to have another child at some point,” Wentz, who has a son, Bronx Mowgli, with wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, tells PEOPLE during Hard Rock International’s Rock & Soul Party Friday night near Miami.

Adds the rocker: “We also like doing what you have to do to have a baby!”

“My child has taught me selflessness, patience and how to give this unexplained kind of love,” Wentz, 30, says at the party, where he was asked to deejay by football agent Drew Rosenhaus. “I can’t explain this kind of love, but Ashlee, who is just an awesome mom, shares this feeling with me.”

As for his other job, bassist for Fall Out Boy, Wentz says he’s looking for new challenges now that the fate of the band remains uncertain.

“I am solo tonight, but I won’t sing or perform a song,” he says. “I will just deejay. As for the breakup with the band, all I can say is that for now I want to chill.”

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz: Bronx Has ‘Helped Me Grow’

Posted by Keiren 6 Comments

With her run in Broadway’s Chicago coming to a close on Feb. 7th, singer-actress Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is getting ready to pack up her belongings and move from N.Y.C back to L.A.

But first, the new mom — son to Bronx Mowgli, 14 months — took some time to talk to Celebrity Baby Blog about her son’s love of forts, parenting with husband Pete Wentz and her work with Hershey’s candies!

How has the transition from living in L.A. to N.Y.C. been?
It’s been great! We’re just here for two more weeks, then we’re headed back home. But it’s been really cool. Doing Chicago has been great, and it’s been wonderful to go through it all with my husband and baby.

What’s it been like for your family with you working and Pete as a stay-at-home dad of sorts?
I think we have such a fine balance in our relationship because he’s working too, so we’ve just worked out our timing really well.

What’s your daily routine like?
We have Bronx on such a schedule, so it’s focused around him. I don’t leave for the show until 6 p.m., so I get ready and go there later, since it’s an 8 p.m. show. Bronx goes to bed an hour later, and I’m home all day, so that’s been really nice. Although we do eight shows a week! So Bronx comes to the theater on the weekends to visit.

How do you deal with that time apart?
He comes up and has lunch or dinner with me at the theater pretty often. He came to a rehearsal, and yelled out “Mama!” when I got onstage. It was really cute!

Do you have any help outside your family?
We do. But we’re definitely a tight-knit family, and Pete and I are very hands-on. Spending time with Bronx is the best thing in the whole world for us.

Do you feel like motherhood has changed you?
Oh absolutely. It’s the best thing of my life, it’s helped me grow. Same for Pete. I think that being a parent in general just changes you so much.

Any products, books or toys you can’t live without?
It’s changing all the time. Bronx is really into all sorts of books, building forts — he’s such a boy! It’s a lot of fun. And he’s definitely on the go, we’re always running around playing games like hide-and-go-seek.

Does Bronx listen to your music?
He’s definitely heard Fall Out Boy and my music, too, but we play everything for him. He gets to choose his own kind of music, but he doesn’t have a favorite yet.

Would you be supportive if he wanted to go into the music industry?
Yeah, definitely! It’s definitely not something I’d push on him — I want to let him be whatever he wants to be — but we’ll see.

Do you think your experiences growing up in the spotlight will help him down the road?
Yes I’m sure, although we don’t want to raise him in the spotlight. We try to keep our life as private as we can.

Does Bronx notice the paparazzi? How does your family deal?
I think he’s just starting to notice them. It’s more frustrating for Pete and me — Bronx doesn’t quite get it!

What’s next for you career-wise?
I plan to take two weeks off for sure, just to be home and enjoy some down time. And then after that I’m going to start writing again. I’m also looking at some films.

Will you miss performing in Chicago?
I’m excited to go home, and I’m definitely ready to go home! But 10 weeks here was fun, and being on Broadway was a dream.

Tell us about your work with Pieces candy!
I’m definitely a chocolate fan! I’m a Reese’s girl, I like the York Peppermint Patties, so these new bags are great to pick up on the go, because with me, I’m always on the go. But no candy for Bronx yet!

I also bring the candies backstage — it’s nice to have them at the theater because you can grab a quick snack in between numbers. We love it!

Sweet ‘Pieces’ of Ashlee

An Exclusive omg! Chat with Ashlee Simpson-Wentz

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz took a quick break from belting out “Chicago” show tunes Wednesday morning, swapping the Broadway stage for Times Square, where she introduced Hershey’s Pieces Candies to the public. omg! caught up with the sweet-toothed star for a chat about babies, hubby Pete Wentz, Auntie Jessica’s babysitting skills, and her plans for the future.

Singer. Actress. Wife. Mother. Broadway star. In the past few years, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has taken on almost as many new roles as she has hair colors. Some have been successful, some not so much — her unceremonious dismissal from “Melrose Place” last October was a blow, but the tenacious star bounced back fast, landing the starring role of Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical “Chicago” — the same part she played on London’s West End in 2006.

The currently brunette performer confesses that of all her many roles, her favorite is playing mom to 14-month-old Bronx Mowgli Wentz. “He’s doing something new every day,” she smiles. “He loves music and doing his funny little dancy dances.” Though she won’t say whether her son has a preference yet for either his mom’s or his dad’s music, Simpson-Wentz shares that the musical family likes to listen to everything from Bob Marley to the Elmo song — “We sing at home with Bronx. His favorite is probably the ‘Yo Gabba Gabba!’ song right now [from the Nick Jr. children's show].”

As for whether Bronx is developing his own little personality, the singer laughs, “Oh yeah, he’s a real little boy. He likes things that are gross. If I’m like, ‘Ewwwww, Bronx,’ he thinks it’s so funny. He’s got the best giggle now. He’s hilarious!”

Looking ultra fit these days, Simpson-Wentz admits that she doesn’t have a set fitness regime. “I’m doing eight shows a week right now,” she notes. “That’s an endurance exercise in itself! I eat healthy, but I love a grilled cheese too. It’s all about moderation. I don’t have a food obsession.”

Sounds like her gig promoting the new Hershey’s Pieces Candies is a dream job for the star. “I definitely have a sweet tooth, and the York Peppermint Pieces are the best. I love the mint flavor.” She adds with a giggle, “My life is go, go, go, so it’s nice to have a little chocolate snack!” Her son, however, is still sticking to a mostly organic diet — “Bronx isn’t allowed sweets yet, but he did get to try cake for the first time on his first birthday, and he just about exploded! He loved it.”

How else does the actress stay in such great shape? By carrying her son around. “He weighs 30 pounds!” she exclaims. And, just to make you all jealous, Simpson-Wentz also credits her slim figure to that old faithful, genetics: “Luckily, I’ve got good genes too. That always helps!” The Broadway star gets a helping hand from her rock star husband as well. Married in May 2008, Ashlee and Pete Wentz always look the cute couple when out and about in New York City, where Pete is often spotted toting little Bronx around on his back. “Pete is a wonderful dad,” says the star with emotion. “I have a great husband, and we’re a good team.” Juggling a career with a new husband and baby seems like a lot for a 25-year-old to handle, but this musical multi-tasker makes it sound easy, “We’re a family and we keep a good balance — we make it work.” And, with her mom and big sister Jessica on hand, the singer also has a great supply of willing babysitters. “Jessica is such a great aunt. She loves Bronxy, and so does my mom.” Simpson-Wentz laughs, “Whenever we’re back in LA, they’re definitely like, ‘Can we please come over?’”

So how does the Hollywood star keep the romance alive with Wentz? “Pete’s always coming up with sweet surprises,” she replies with a grin. Pressed for details, she continues, “You never want to give too much away, but Pete always comes up with good things. I haven’t had time to go shopping lately, and he surprised me the other day with the most amazing pair of Alaia shoes, and said, ‘Wear these, and we’re going to go on a nice date.’” After a pause, she adds, “I’m in love with my husband, we just keep it special.”

With two weeks left to go on her “Chicago” run, 2010 is all about new possibilities. “I’m going to take a few weeks to just take a deep breath, and enjoy being at home,” says Simpson-Wentz, “and then I’ll start writing again, getting back in the studio, and looking at scripts.” When asked if her new album will be of a similar style to her last, or have any influence from her Fall Out Boy husband, the singer replies, “I’m definitely in a new place in my life. Pete and I share music, but I’m going to keep doing my own thing.”

Posted by Keiren 2 Comments

It’s a big week here at CBB: In separate interviews on Wednesday, we’ll be speaking to Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott, as well as Ashlee Simpson-Wentz!

Tori and Dean, parents to Liam Aaron, 2 ½, and Stella Doreen, 19 months, keep a lot on their plates, with parenthood, Tori’s books, their Oxygen reality show and various television guest appearences.

Ashlee, married to rocker Pete Wentz, has had a busy start to her year, continuing to raise baby Bronx Mowgli, 14 months, and starring in the Broadway production of Chicago.

We’d love your input on what we should ask all three parents. If you have a question you’d like Tori and Dean or Ashlee to answer, please post it in the comments! Click here for more details.
