Hiring a babysitter for the evening, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were spotted out and about in Los Angeles last night (June 1).
The former Fall Out Boy rocker and his “Pieces of Me” songstress looked to be in good spirits as they stepped out of Pete’s Angels & Kings bar to find the paparazzi waiting for them.
Pete and Ashlee were in the house to support their pal Travis McCoy as he embarks on his solo career apart from Gym Class Heroes.
Touring with the Too Fast for Love concert, McCoy was having a listening party for his new album titled Lazarus.
Vampire Diaries Stars Spill Secrets on Season Two, That Kiss and…Ashlee Simpson?!
I just caught up with The Vampire Diaries stars to talk about that insanely good season finale and what’s ahead for season two. So why were we talking about Melrose Place’s (RIP) Ashlee Simpson appearing on The Vampire Diaries?
Turns out, Ashlee was the CW’s first choice for Nina’s role of Elena/Katherine.
“We all independently looked at a bunch of [audition] DVDs,” co-executive producer and director Marcos Siega told the crowd at a recent Screen Actors Guild event for TVD. “We couldn’t find the girl we wanted. The network wanted us to hire Ashlee Simpson…But Nina [Dobrev] sent this DVD back and we all were home looking, searching, and we came in the next day saying, ‘We should look at Nina again.’ We showed it to Peter Roth, and Peter only saw her on that tape and he said, ‘That’s her.’”
“Half of Hollywood I think went out for the role, for all our roles,” Nina tells me. “I guess I did something right, here I am. We had to discover and find our characters. Every episode we learned something more and something more, and eventually we created and molded these amazing, awesome characters.

Pete and Ashlee’s Young Son in a Minor Car Accident
Everyone left scratch-free. The car wasn’t quite so lucky.
Bronx Wentz, the 1 1/2-year-old son of Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, was unscathed following a car accident in Los Angeles’ Coldwater Canyon today.
“It was a minor fender-bender and everyone is fine,” a rep for the couple told E! News.
There are no details yet on the cause of the accident, though neither star parent was in the vehicle at the time—rather it was Bronx’s nanny who was behind the wheel. But it certainly didn’t take long for the concerned parents to hightail it over to the scene of the accident…
The couple roared up to the site of the collision, and while Ashlee remained in the vehicle, Papa Wentz rushed over to collect his unharmed son and speak with the nanny about the accident.
There was obvious damage to the front left side of the nanny’s vehicle, though it’s unclear if she was hit or the one doing the hitting.
Regardless, the rattled trio quickly (though not speed limit-breaking quickly) made their way back home.

Back in Beverly Hills, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz took their son Bronx Mowgli for a hike at Mulholland Canyon Park on Sunday afternoon (May 2).
