Hollywood may be a place full of famous faces, but on Twitter, anyone can be popular, from movie stars to CNN hosts to, ahem, former “Star Trek: The Next Generation” actors. Brand X set out to track down the social networking site’s most followed Los Angeles users to see how Twitter’s local cool kids stack up. Our rules were simple: Must be an actual person (sorry, FunnyorDie); must not be an assistant or publicity team (sorry, Britney Spears); and must list Los Angeles, L.A. or some other variation as his or her location (sorry, Kim Kardashian). So who made the cut? Click through for our authoritative list.

1. Ashton Kutcher (@aplusk). Followers: 5,441,301. Occupation: Full-time Twitter user, occasional actor/producer/humanitarian. Married to Demi Moore, wears a lot of baseball caps.

2. Ryan Seacrest (@ryanseacrest). Followers: 3,326,964. Occupation: E! and “American Idol” host, TV producer, radio early bird. Tweets a lot about the Kardashians.
